Motif: The Neorenaissance Kursalon in Lipik (dates from 1893.). Lipik, spa town, (Western Slavonia Region) situated in a forested and enclosed basin in the Pakra River valley on the edge of the Papuk and the Psunj wooded hills, was predestined for touristic activities from time immemorial thanks to its beauties and its favorable climatic conditions. The thermal springs of Lipik or Pakrac were known to the Romans (Aquae Balissae). Its numerous springs were long the property of the "Bijela stijena" (White Stone) estate. The therapeutic properties of Lipičke toplice (Spa of Lipik) were mentioned by John Capistran (1517). The spa’s main development dates primarily from the early 19th century. The springs were patronized by Antun Knoll from Vukovar, who made several artesian wells, built the main baths, Garni Hotel, and the park. This Golden age began in 1867, when a number of villas were built, a school and a post office were established. After WW ll, the town fell into ruins but the parc of Lipik reappeared as one of the most beautiful in Northern Croatia Region, it belonged to the monuments of the garden architecture, the main bath complex was classified in the registre of unmovable monuments of the culture together with the parc area and the urban monuments. The stamp was printed in sheets of 20 pieces each. HPT put on sale the commemorative envelope of the first day (FDC) and a commemorative sheet, too.
