Ante Starčević (Žitnik 23rd May, 1823 - Zagreb 28th February 1896.) He was a great Croatian politician,a member of the Croatian Parliament and the founder and ideologue of the Croatian Party of the Right.
In the series of postage stamps entitled "Great Croats", HPT-the Croatian Post and Telecommunications issued a regular postage stamp bearing a portrait of Ante Starčević.The nominal value of the stamp includes the amount of 4 HRD for postage, plus and additional amount of 2 HRD in favour of the banking and development institution called "Hrvatski radiša". Motif: Ante Starčević (Žitnik 23rd May, 1823 - Zagreb 28th February 1896.) He was a great Croatian politician,a member of the Croatian Parliament and the founder and ideologue of the Croatian Party of the Right.He advocated the idea of full national freedom and independence, and was a persistent and consistent champion of the democratic rights of the people. The stamp was printed in sheets of 30 pieces each. HPT was placed on sale the envelope of the first date of issue (FDC) and a commemorative sheet of paper.
